Location and access

The library is in and overlooks St James Square. There is time limited parking on the street or a large car park in Back Lane which runs behind the library. (Please avoid parking on the cobbled square itself.)

There is level access to the library as well as automatic doors. The Jubilee meeting room is on the first floor accessed by stairs or platform lift.

Boroughbridge Community Library and Resource Centre is a small, welcoming library at the heart of the community providing a full range of library services for the benefit of everyone.   A Home Delivery service is offered to those who are housebound. The library is accessible by wheelchair and is very child-friendly.   Activities such as Storytime, scrabble, ICT support and bridge groups are held regularly.

The Library is run by a team of roughly 30 friendly, well- motivated volunteers who are organised on a rota basis. If you join our team you will be given NYCC online training in addition to on-the-job training/shadowing and receive part-time support from a member of NYCC staff. If you have skills to offer or want to offer your time doing something really rewarding then come in and have a chat to some of our volunteers or email Judith Burton at
